Staying Open-Minded About Your Healthcare

When I was first diagnosed with breast cancer, I didn't know what I was going to do. After the devastation subsided, I decided to take a very standard, western approach to my healing. Although initial efforts were successful, my cancer recurred a few months later. I endured many additional months of treatment before I started focusing on myself. I decided it was time to incorporate complimentary alternative treatments into my healing regimen, including massage therapy. I can't even begin to tell you how much it changed my life. My healing became a process, instead of something I simply had to endure. I hope that the articles on my website can inspire you to stay open-minded about your own healthcare.

Your First Trip to a Medical Marijuana Dispensary: A Look at Product Options

Health & Medical Blog

Marijuana has come a long way over the past several years. Thanks to extensive research demonstrating the medicinal properties of cannabis, many states have voted to legalize the purchase and use of this powerful natural remedy. Along with this legalization has come the birth of marijuana dispensaries. If you have not yet visited one of these dispensaries, you may be surprised at the wide range of products that they offer. Below you can learn more about some of the products you will have to choose from on your first trip to a medical marijuana dispensary.

Flower

Flowe—or bud as many people call it—is the most traditional form of marijuana. This product is designed to be smoked and is separated into three basic categories. These categories are sativa, indica, and hybrid. Sativa strains are known for their uplifting benefits and are great for people who struggle with a lack of energy. Indica strains on the other hand have a more relaxing effect and are therefore good for people who require pain relief or who struggle with insomnia. Hybrid strains combine the attributes of both indica and sativa strains.

Concentrate

Marijuana concentrate is a product that is relatively new to many people since this product was not available until after the movement to legalize weed really started gaining momentum. These products are an extracted form of marijuana and contain much higher levels of THC and CBD than can be found in flower. These products can be consumed in a variety of ways. Some people prefer to consume these products through a process known as dabbing. Dabbing works by heating the concentrate to a high temperature using either a dab rig or a dab pen. The high temperatures used when dabbing will vaporize the concentrate and these vapors are then inhaled in order to get the effects of the marijuana.

Topicals

Topical products deliver THC/CBD through the skin. This category of products is great for people with chronic pain who do not wish to smoke marijuana. By delivering relief directly to the site of your pain, these products can really provide targeted relief while completely eliminating the psychedelic effects that come with smoking marijuana.

Edibles

Most medical marijuana dispensaries will have a wide variety of edible products. These products often range from small gummy candies and chocolate bars to energy drinks and THC-infused teas. These products are another great option for individuals who do not wish to smoke their marijuana products. Edibles can often take a bit longer to kick in than other types of marijuana, however, the effects these products provide also lasts considerably longer than products that must be smoked.
