Staying Open-Minded About Your Healthcare

When I was first diagnosed with breast cancer, I didn't know what I was going to do. After the devastation subsided, I decided to take a very standard, western approach to my healing. Although initial efforts were successful, my cancer recurred a few months later. I endured many additional months of treatment before I started focusing on myself. I decided it was time to incorporate complimentary alternative treatments into my healing regimen, including massage therapy. I can't even begin to tell you how much it changed my life. My healing became a process, instead of something I simply had to endure. I hope that the articles on my website can inspire you to stay open-minded about your own healthcare.

How Your Addiction Is Affecting Your Relationships In Life

Blog

Trying to break a drug addiction is not an easy feat, but it is something you should seriously consider doing right now. Your addiction is not only bad for yourself, but it is also affecting those closest to you. If you cannot break the addiction for yourself, you really should consider trying to achieve this so you can stop damaging all the relationships in your life. Here are three effects your addiction may be having on your friends and family members.

Problems from fighting and arguing

Those closest to you will know about your addiction, even if you try hard to keep it a secret. It will show in the way you act, with your motivation level, and with the way you live your life. The people that love you the most are likely to talk to you about this; and if you are like most addicts, these conversations will probably turn into fights. Admitting that you have a problem is not easy to do, primarily because you know that it hurts those you love. All of these fights and arguments will continue until you break your addiction.

Broken trust from lying and stealing

Many addicts have trouble supporting their addictions, and a lot of addicts have trouble holding a job. If you are having problems with these things, you may begin stealing just to get enough money to buy your drugs. You might steal from your family members, or you might begin robbing homes and stores. In either case, this will result in problems. Your family will not be able to trust you anymore, and this is a great way to destroy relationships.

In addition, you may begin lying about different things in your life, and your loved ones will catch on to this. It is hard to trust someone who lies all the time, but this is a common trait of addicts.

Broken relationships

If you are married, your addiction could lead to a breakdown of the marriage. If you have children, they may keep their distance from you. Your friends may no longer want to be around you, and you might end up all alone. This is what addiction does to the relationships no matter how hard you try not to let it.

If you want to prevent your relationships from getting worse, and if you truly are ready to break free from your addiction, now is the best time to look into professional help (such as can be found through those from Comprehensive Behavioral Health Associates Inc) from a substance abuse facility in your area.
